 CJR Invitational Golf Tournament

 

Dear Sponsors & Players:

 

February 25, 2013 marks the sixth anniversary of Caleb’s passing. Although his life ended too soon, his legacy lives on. The outpouring of love and support received compelled us to reach out and help others who have been affected in their own way.  Over the last six years I asked myself what else the we can do? I don’t want to see other families have to go through what I have, so I decided to take the CJRMF in a new direction. We can help to find the cure.

We announced last year that the CJR Memorial Foundation will fund a project to build a children’s playground in our local park to be dedicated in Caleb’s name. This play system will cater to children from 5—12 years of age, and will also be handicapped accessible. A playground that ALL children can enjoy for many years to come, and a project will feel the community will come together to embrace. Play is essential to development because it contributes physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth. Play also offers an ideal opportunity for parents to engage in their children’s lives. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in securing a state matching DCNR Grant that would have helped us meet our goal. For that reason we plan to make this project one of our primary goals for this year and the upcoming years if necessary. With borough approval we will re-apply for the DCNR Grant and will continue to raise other funds needed until we do reach our mark.

Starting this year contributions will be made towards the following:

  • Brain Cancer Research at the Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia. There they continue to discover  methods for treatment of many types of cancer. Researchers are closer and closer to finding a cure. 
  • Sponsor a room at the Ronald McDonald House for the year in Caleb’s name. The Ronald McDonald House program provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.
  • Continue to promote a healthier lifestyle for children and their families in an effort to reduce the likelihood of future complications from disease or injury.

Once again we are looking for your support. The 4th annual CJR Memorial Invitational Golf Tournament is  just around the corner along with other planned events. Thanks to the contributions and thoughtfulness of every sponsor, participant and volunteer; we have become a huge success. 

The tournament will be held:                                         Monday,  April 15h
